Community

A.  Bay City, Texas
Bay City is the County seat of Matagorda County, Texas and has a population of about 20,000 people. We are located on the Colorado River, 19 miles from the coastal town of Matagorda. Many outdoor activities center around the beach, bays, and river.  Matagorda County is an important birding area. Our community has an active art league and a drama group. We have numerous service organizations.  Much of Matagorda County is rural. Bay City and Matagorda County are experiencing economic growth both in the commercial and industrial sectors.  Several large plants located in the area provide employment for a large sector of the population. We are an agricultural community with an active fair and livestock association.  Bay City has a state recognized museum which houses part of the LaSalle exhibit.
