The Rector We Seek
Our hope is to find a rector who will join our church family and find joy living in our midst. If you are married and/or have a family, we would love to have your family engaged and participating in our church and community. We are seeking a rector who is willing to engage with us, live among us, and lead us on our spiritual journey and who is comfortable interacting with and teaching children. We are a happy and helpful lot, looking for someone who is optimistic, hopeful, and friendly. We hope to find a personable and outgoing pastor who can love our celestial souls and also come to like our earthly, and admittedly flawed, personalities.
We hope to find a strong pastor with the ability to understand our traditional culture then strategically determine our church’s direction; someone who can organize, follow through, attract others, encourage, and adapt. We have chosen to remain St. Markans in a traditional spirit of the Episcopal Church. Our new rector should remain politically neutral and respect the separation of church and state. We are seeking a rector who is able to speak on the theologically traditional side but can help people remain open to different views.
The new rector at St. Mark’s will have the opportunity to help build on the existing educational programs, by expanding our educational formation with new opportunities that all folks will find engaging with an eagerness to attend. Attracting members into full fellowship by adding to our church family is important to us. St. Markans are open to meaningful changes in the worship experience which support creative ways for us to deepen our relationships with Christ and each other.
We are eager to learn about and work for the Kingdom of Christ through our involvement with St. Mark's and our new rector. Our desire is for a pastor who is an active member of our community, assimilating with Bay City and Matagorda County. Becoming our rector will require empathy, a willingness to listen with compassion, and a desire to find common ground in Christ.
If God is calling you to seek a new church with an extremely vital congregation who will welcome, support, and love you as you continue your spiritual journey, then St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Bay City, Texas, will roll out the red carpet for you to your new home!
